So, a little over two years ago, in September, I pre-ordered a SOLOSHOT 3 robot camera. They were supposed to be ready the following March, but the hopes and dreams of the creators were met with stodgy ol' reality, and no one got their camera until this past November. While there are still some bugs to be worked out on both the creator and user ends, my little robot camera friend is amusing as well as educational. The first ride I videoed was good from a video standpoint, but not so great from a riding standpoint. At the time, I was unable to "embrace the suck," so I only pulled a still or two to look at. I did, however, learn a great deal about where to go next, and subsequent, albeit undocumented, rides have been better.
This particular ride was great, but the camera was having a bad day, and the resulting video was now what I was looking for. I could see the camera pointing at the sky as I was riding, and I was really pissed that it wasn't working as it was supposed to. Until I got the footage into my computer. I'm not sure what it was, but when I saw this I absolutely laughed out loud - it was so much funnier than it should have been! It was all so quiet and peaceful, even if it was completely wrong. Then, it was just like me when I wake up disoriented and late for work, thinking it's Saturday when it's really Friday. I felt a stab of empathy for the little guy, trying to do a good job and just failing frantically and miserably. I get that. Sounds like it's a fixable problem, which is hopeful for both me and my little robot friend.
